Please Help! Simple way to use EV3!!
I need help! My 7 year old was given the EV3 for Christmas from Santa Clause (he obviously did not see the recommended ages) and it's all my son wants to play with. The problem is I have no clue what the heck I am doing!! He is 7 and doesn't yet want, or even know all the amazing things the Robot can do, all he simply wants to do right now is be able to operate the EV3RSTORM with the remote. I was able to build the robot but now he just stands there. Can someone please help me figure this out! I would be so grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Kyle

hey,
this is just for RobotC (C-like) programming, but RobotC can't do it even for the EV3 yet.
You're supposed to get better help e.g. here on this facebook website:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/legomindstorms/

good luck

(ps:
but IMO the earlier he'd learn what it means "you're still too young for it" the better.
Maybe you can resell it at Ebay)

I guess you can have fun with it in the meantime building the "sample projects" that came with the robot and show your son what wonderful things it can do. In a few years, he may develop an interest in doing it himself. Currently, LabView supports EV3. The LEGO website has a lot of example projects with code that you can just download to the robot.

I am pretty sure LV is not supported on the EV3 just yet. You can use LV to make blocks for the graphical programming environment, that's all.

If LV is not supported yet, then what did I download that contains all the sample projects? That environment said it's LabView!

Re: Please Help! Simple way to use EV3!!
do you mean original LV download projects for the EV3 31313 ?
never heard of it.
Of course the EV3-G (X3) Graphic PL is based on LV runtime environment, as usual already for NXT-G.

anyway, LV is for sure far too demanding for the skills of a 7-year-old...

You sure that's not just for making new blocks for the graphical environment?

So is MINDSTORMS. For the 7-year-olds, LEGO sells WeDo
