 Dealing with spam...
This has been suggested before, but shouldn't we get a temporary ban on the keyword " [insert name of room in which most people cook food]"? So far all the spam messages have that keyword in it, and we might as well try, right?

 Re: Dealing with spam...
I've asked Vu about this but he's been slacking a little too much and hasn't configured it yet. I am sure he'll get to it eventually, hopefully.
I'll harass him some more tomorrow when he's back in the office.

 Re: Dealing with spam...
That option actually isn't available out of box with phpBB. I just added it, but I would rather find the source rather than not letting people use the word-which-we-shall-not-name.

 Re: Dealing with spam...
How about only limiting new users from using the "K" word?

 Re: Dealing with spam...
How about requiring that the first 5 or 10 posts by a user need to be approved by an admin before actually getting posted? If someone tries to post junk, the admin can just ban the account right from the beginning, and nobody else needs to see the spam.

 Re: Dealing with spam...
Unfortunately, there is no way to completely remove spam. I wish there was... We add more ways to make it harder as time goes on, but over time our forums get more popular which = more spambots. Luckily, we have awesome mods like Xander to help clean up the forums when one of our guys don't catch it. Anyway, we will keep trying to find solutions to reduce the spam.
As always, just hit "Report" if you ever find one and we'll take care of it asap.

 Re: Dealing with spam...
If you attempt to use the word "k i t c h e n", there is a message that reads: I suggest changing the error message so that it doesn't tell the spammer how to get around the block.
