How to connect external Quadrature Shaft Encoders in ROBOTC
I am building a ROBOTC Crawbot robot. I have just put on two external quadrature shaft encoders. Each encoder has two sets wires, each with a 3 pin connector. I understand that I need to insert each connector into a digital sensor port on the Cortex. However, I have no idea which slot each of the two cables is supposed to go into and cannot find the answer on the internet thus far.
Can anyone please tell me how to connect these shaft encoders?
Thank you

Re: How to connect external Quadrature Shaft Encoders in ROB
Thank you for your input.
I now understand that they are placed in two of the Digital I/O ports. The only information that I still need is whether or not the two encoder cables need to be placed in a specific order.
For example the Input and Output wires of the Ultrasonic Rangefinder need to be plugged into adjacent slots and the Output wire must be in a higher slot than the Input wire.
Thanks for your help.

They can go in either order but the order will determine the direction.
