I just bult a robot with both VEX and NXT parts. It's controled by an NXT Brick, uses NXT motors, has a VEX frame with Lego mounts, and has a catapult built with Legos. I will post a pitcure of it when make one.

Does the warboss go *into* the catapult? You could fit an army of Orcs in "Da Robopult". WAAAGH!!

Xander

Re: NXT + VEX = REALY LARGE ROBOT!!!
holy bible what a size!
and those wheels really attract me. esp. the ones in front!
am I right, you can attache them to nxt motors?
They look as if you can easily build an omnidirectional drive with them...?

Ford,

Check these out: http://www.holonomicwheel.com/template. ... nomic.html

You'll like these and they're NXT compatible.

Xander

Re: NXT + VEX = REALY LARGE ROBOT!!!
wow, those VEX and "School of Robotics" stuffs are really amazing!
I guess I need to make new plans considering my 6-axis robo arm

especially those 2 kits really look fine:

http://www.vexrobotics.com/vex-robotics-claw-kit.shtml
http://www.vexrobotics.com/vex-robotics ... -kit.shtml

I'm curious if they fit to Lego NXT or TETRIX parts and motors ?
Or can the VEX motors be plugged to NXT ports or the HiTechnic motor mux?
How strong are the VEX motors compared to the Lego motors?

Re: NXT + VEX = REALY LARGE ROBOT!!!
The VEX shafts fit losely in the NXT motors, but still catch the shaft key. Btw, an FTC kit is coming for my team, and I will be testing code with that robot. Eventualy, the robot will compete in the FTC, but I have to make it a little smaller. Good thing Tectrix has the parts to make it smaller, and a drive system to replace the NXT motors so that they can power the puck retrieval system.

Re: NXT + VEX = REALY LARGE ROBOT!!!
is there a TETRIX kit available containig strong servos, channels and motor brackets for servos zo build a robot arm (strong enough to grab and lift about 1 kg / 2 pounds)?

I don't know. Btw, I'm going to use a modified version of the arm.

The one on the robot. I rebuilt it to use forks instead of a catapult. I also added a shaft with wheels to collect pucks. Still waiting for that kit though...

Edit: Here are the pictures of the arm:
