Post Serial compass for use with Cortex?
There is a challenge where I need to get an autonomous toy jeep to navigate to a given coordinate. I already have the GPS receiver program ready. However, the problem is that the receiver doesn't output the direction the toy jeep is facing. In order to navigate to the coordinate, the robot would need to know which direction it was facing first.

I need a compass that will connect through the Cortex's UART port. I've searched online, but can only find I2C compasses and from what I know, the I2C port on the Cortex is only for certain sensors.

Couldn't you save your current location, drive forward a little and use your new position to figure out what heading you traveled on? Then after that use motor encoders to track your heading as you go. That is what we are doing for our autonomous program.
