Is there a virtual world for sumo?
Hi,
I am trying to write a sumo robot and hope to test it in a virtual world.
The basic sumo robot would have - 1 front light sensor - 1 rear light sensor - 1 front sonar sensor - 1 rear sonar sensor - left and right motor to control movement
Is there such a virtual world? Or close to it? My main purpose is to test my sumo routines which involve multitasking.
Thanks.
Regards.

Re: Is there a virtual world for sumo?
The sensor load-out on all the virtual robots is very similar: - a light sensor facing downwards in the front - a sonar sensor facing forwards in the front - a touch sensor in the front - a compass sensor - two motors with encoders, one controlling the left wheel(s) and one controlling the right wheel(s)
The current sensor load-out of the virtual robots unfortunately doesn't meet your specs, although there isn't any reason why in the future they could not.
We're investigating creating a way for everyone to choose which sensors go where, so that someone would be able to modify the virtual robots to meet his or her need.

If making it possible to use user-created robots is a very difficult thing, you could implement a few different models and allow people to pick from that, including a sumo robot. Think of it as an intermediate step between just one model to any model.

We're looking in that direction too, but of course then the question becomes "What do the preset models look like?"
We're also looking into unlockable models and sensors; I think that'd be pretty neat.

Re: Is there a virtual world for sumo?
I hope there is a virtual world for sumo. It would be fun for different people to submit their sumo robots to compete online.
