Has anyone used this application to convert WAV files to RSO format? Here is the link. http://bricxcc.sourceforge.net/utilities.html Go down a page a bit for the download. Anyway, my problem with it is that any WAV file I convert gets dropped an octave, making very low, quiet sounds, though they do play on the NXT with the PlaySoundFile("stop.rso"); statement in RobotC.

If anyone has had experience with this I'd love some insight into why it's doing this and how to fix it.

This is because the pitch will shift then you use a file at a different sample rate then the output format.

So if you use a sample at 11025, then save as 8000 then it will drop in frequency. Because now the sample is longer than the original in length. The same number of samples are played for a longer duration.

You will need to convert your source WAV file into the correct matching format with the correct speed before you try and convert it to rso.

There are so many audio files converters. You can find another one which is easier to use, such as Convert-Tune.
