Post Platform Type Does Not Save
We just started using RobotC 4.x, and currently, 4.26 does not save all of the Platform Type settings that we set in the menu under Robot. We have to set it to have External Motors/Servo Controllers checked and make sure that Natural Language is unchecked every time we restart RobotC on a given laptop. This was not an issue in the RobotC 3.x series. The settings would just stay saved in RobotC 3.x.

Does anyone know who to keep our platform type settings saved permanently?

Thank you,

Could you see if this problem persists with the latest ROBOTC? We just released 4.27.

We updated to 4.27 and the problem still persists. Every time we relaunch RobotC after closing it, we have to set up the platform type settings before editing our code. It's not the biggest deal, but it gets a little annoying. If there is some menu setting to have it be permanent already, please let us know.

Thank you and regards,

Hi there,

It could be due to two issues:

You are launching ROBOTC from an icon that has been placed on your desktop during the install. This will almost always contain a flag that tells ROBOTC to start with a specific platform. Right click on the icon and select 'Properties'. If the Target contains something like this:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Robomatter Inc\ROBOTC Development Environment 4.X\RobotC.exe" -LEGO -text

Attachment:

Simply remove the -LEGO -text and the UI will start with whatever platform you had selected previously.

The other possibility is that you're on a locked down PC that does not allow you to write to the registry in a persistent manner. Either you cannot write to the registry or it is wiped when the user logs out or logs in. If this is the case, then there's not a lot we can do.

Let me know if fixing the start up icon helps.

I am not sure. I tried deleting the extension in the properties like you said, but it still does not work. It works fine with RobotC 3.x, which is still on my computer. I can try and see if it works with some other team member's laptop. I do not think the registry issue you mentioned is possible is a problem.
