Post subject:  IDE windows re-size and move during/after compile

When I hit F5 (or use menus) to compile and download the code the whole IDE window resizes and moves. Then when I get rid of the 'program debug' buttons palette, the IDE again resizes and moves.

I quite like to code with the IDE and a browser with API info side by side and filling the whole screen. When I first compiled just now, the IDE went from half the screen, to nearly filling the screen, then went back to a different position and size, meaning I had to manually drag resize and position the IDE window.

Does this happen on 'native' Windows systems ie is it a VMWare issue? Does it annoy anyone else? I can't find any settings in RobotC or Windows that might have an effect on this, have I missed something?

Oh, and if I was being a real pedant ,-> should it be 'compile and upload' or even 'compile and sideload'?

Running RobotC 3.54 on Windows 8 in VMWare Fusion 5, but did re-size and move with previous versions of RobotC, VMWare and WinXP.

Mike,

The terms uploading and downloading are always mixed up, I stopped worrying about it :) They basically kept the same terms as the ones LEGO was using.

As for the window resize thing, I can confirm this with 3.55 B2.

oops, I meant to put a smiley after the upload/download thing, it was meant a bit tongue in cheek as not a real problem!

Does the window resize bother anyone else? Is it a Windows thing, or something RobotMatter can fix?

I just maximise my window in both modes, so it's never an issue for me. I can see how it would be annoying, though.

I had a play about, I think it is actually a feature:-)

Whilst editing text: drag window to desired size and position.
Whilst running program with program debug palette up: also drag window to desired size and position.

So I can have both in the same size and position, but you could also position in other ways e.g. during running program have maximised window to see variables.

Sorry, us Mac users aren't used to this level of 'control':-)

First off - I'm not yet a licensed user. Just started a trial this evening, but I already feel like ROBOTC will me making my "ToBuy" list.

With that said... I would definitely fall into the category of those that consider the IDE window resizing/moving behavior a big PITA. I consistently make use of the "snap" feature of Windows 7.

Consider this situation:
- ROBOTC is "snapped" to the left side of the monitor
- ROBOTC Help is "snapped" to the right side of the monitor - being used for function reference while learning the library.

As it is, the main IDE window "unsnaps" each time I run/stop a program. That's somewhat of a nuisance. Now I'm sure that after becoming more familiar with the software I'll find quite a few "feature requests" that would take precedence over this one ... but the fact remains - it's a bit of a pain.

But, but, but it's a feature! I have two completely different layouts for when I am programming and when I am debugging, so I am quite happy with it :) I can see how it would be a pain with what you're doing, though.

Solution: buy an extra monitor for the help window.

Using RobotC version 4.50 on Windows 10 - this behavior still exists (and is still annoying  ).

Any chance this could be looked at / added to a list to be fixed???

Thanks,
