Post Is there a way to greatly speed up code execution in RVW ?
Greetings,

I would like to know if there is a way to speed up code execution for a RobotC program running on Robot Virtual Worlds. Sometimes it would be nice to see the robot whiz through the test track to see if a bug still exists near the end, then run the code at normal speed once it is obvious that the code appears to be working. Because the robots do not move very fast in real life, it can sometimes be very boring to need to watch the robot go over the same long track over and over only to test for a bug fix near the end.

Might there be a way to adjust the RVW's apparent execution speed of a RobotC program?

Thanks

Hi Warp,
There's no way to do this in our current virtual worlds offerings. The Unity game development environment we use to create RVW offers a feature as part of its physics simulation that would do something similar to what you describe. However, the ROBOTC emulator would require fairly extensive changes to support such an operation - without these, your program would still be expecting events to pass by at regular pace.

Depending on which virtual worlds and robots you are using, you may want to consider isolating the problem areas of your code and run just that portion in an open area of a level. The RVW Level Builder may be of use here - the exception might be if you're using one of the competition (VEX, FTC) worlds, since those worlds include specialized robots that aren't available in the Level Builder.

Best,
--Ryan

Hi Ryan,

thanks very much for the rapid reply. At least I now know to stop looking for a way to do this.

cheers
