I have been using my old desktop for at least three years and now it does not work. I want to get a light and small Netbook. My problem is that I'm quite out of touch with what is currently out there, thus the reason for posting here looking for suggestions.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Asus EEE netbooks seem not bad and popular. I own a Samsung netbook, the battery life's shorter than Asus' but I like the design more. So it depends on your requirements. There're plenty of options out there)

I like Asus EEEPC netbook as well, mainly for their battery life. If you manage your usage well, it could get 6-8 hours. I got EEEPC netbooks for all my kids. However, they did not like them because they play video games and netbook generally do not have very powerful graphics. So I ended up buying them Asus thin and light instead of netbooks.

Go for new netbooks which dual core processor which are cheap too. Asus netbooks are good but before buying compare the netbooks for price if you are on budget and battery life if you need long battery.
