Post subject:  Recommendations for new robot arm?

Hi all,

I need a new robot arm and was looking at the Universal Robots UR10 model, but have been hearing bad things about them and many places no longer stock UR robots.

I'm now looking into ST Robotics as an alternative but wanted to see if there were any other suggestions?

It will be for testing shoes, repeating 10,000 steps. We liked the UR10 as we didn't need to program the arms like conventional ABB or KUKA robots.

We just need it for simple tasks initially, evolving into using the arm to construct certain parts of a 3D printed shoes.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

RobotC is an educational tool and not meant for commercial or industrial use.

When selecting automation for commercial or industrial use you will want to understand the reach, payload, speed, and degrees of freedom needed. This may translate into a robot or a series of programmable actuators. You also need to understand the floor space, environment, and utility services available. The tooling design is also important. Finally your budget needs to include all this plus the total life cycle cost. Taking the task to an integrator will provide all these services, doing it yourself without knowledge in all these areas will lead to mistakes that can cost time, money, and compromise safety.
