I've programmed in the RobotC sound functions into a While loop. All I get on the piezo speaker (transducer) is a low buzz out of motor port #1. Anyone have a suggestion?

Did you set the motor type to "Speaker?". Please copy a portion of your code so I can take a look at what the issue may be.
