Post subject:  Urgent! Simple Begginer Question

Hello,
For our competition tomorrow we decided to use vex robotics that the school has. We have the 3.0 ide and a vexCortex with Vexnet, along with additional components. We have reinstalled the firmware onto the Cortex and we are able to connect. After pulling up the sample of two analog control, compiling, and installing all the motors do is spin indefinitely. We are using 293's plug into the 2 far right plugs of ports 2 and 3.
We have tried everything. We changed the config for the motors to the right motor setting. Changed the code. EVERYTHING.
We are beginners to Vex but know how to code so is there a setting we are missing like autonomous settings? Can anyone give any sort of input?

Thank you

So no one has any suggestions as to fix the motors from spinning with no reason? Could it be a short?

You posted your question 7 hours ago; no need to be impatient. Let me see if I can answer your question. You're plugging the two wire motors directly into the 3-wire ports? That won't work. To use a two wire motor with a three wire port, you'll need a motor-controller 29: http://www.vexrobotics.com/276-2193.html
You could also plug the two wire motors into the two wire ports (1 and 10).

Check out the tutorial videos in the VEX Cortex Video Trianer. They show everything from setting up, using motors, and using sensors, and remote control. I think it'll be a great help: http://www.education.rec.ri.cmu.edu/pro ... index.html
