 New to VEX?
Hello, Im a teacher from WI, I have never used VEX and robotC before. My students love working with VEX and RobotC. However we have on problem that we have not been able to solve. When when compile and load the program to the cortex, it works fine, but as soon as we disconnect the USB cable, everything stops. Any help for my class and a NEWBIE would be greatly appreciated.

 Re: New to VEX?
Hi Pwinegar,
What do you mean by "everything stops"? Does the program actually stop running on the cortex robot, or just the debug window freezes up and may notify you that it can no longer communicate with the robot?
Unless you are programming over the orange cable into a VEXnet remote control, then via VEXnet wifi to the cortex, you will lose connection to the debugger when you disconnect the USB. However, if you disconnect the USB and reboot the robot it should be able to run the program on its own -- without the debugger.
Also, in the ROBOTC gui window, look under the "Robot" menu, then to "Vex Cortex Download Method", then choose the one that works best for your intended application.
I hope that this helps. Please feel free to ask more questions and let me know if this is not what you meant.

 Re: New to VEX?
The program on the Cortex stops running is what I should have stated. Since my last post, one of the many smart students in my class resolved the problem by updating the firmware. All is good, and the class is having a great time building and programming. Thanks
