Post Converting EV3 from 4.25 back to Mindstorms
We recently tried out the 4.25 software on an EV3. Very impressive

All seemed to work well except the third party sensors which Xander tells me are still a work in progress.

I have decided to return the EV3 to Lego Mindstorms compatibility. This has been a common practice with the NXTs.

Unfortunately I can't work out how to make it all happen - the EV3 cannot be found from within the EV3 software. Is installing the Linux kernel a "on-way" process?

Regards,

Neil

No, it is not a one way process, in fact the firmware on the EV3 that is shipped with ROBOTC is backwards compatible with the one shipped with the LEGO software. You shouldn't have to reflash your brick at all.

Thanks Xander,

Turned out to be a windows/mac/parallels issue.

Shutdown windows and all worked well. Now I need to try 4.26 !

Regards,

Neil

I am interested in the comment

I am using the education software 1.1.0 (20140605.18)

The EV3 had firmware 1.06X. The EV3 software warned and required me to "update my firmware" to 1.06E.

Similarly the NXT was running FW 10.26 and while I did not get a warning, The education version would not download to the NXT.
