Post Update the firmware to original. Is it Possible?
Dear All,

I am a begginer in RobotC. I'd like to get start but I'm afraid of update my NXT, use RobotC but never back it to the original firmware if something goes wrong.

Update to the original firmware (easy steps), Is it possible?

Thanks.

Yes, it is possible to re-load the NXT programming language firmware back onto your NXT if you want to switch between languages. To go back to ROBOTC, just download the ROBOTC firmware to your NXT.

Welcome to RobotC!

It is certainly possible to restore the original firmware back to the NXT. To do it, you use the software that came on the CD when you bought the NXT.

Before moving back to the old firmware, you would want to make sure you have a copy of the latest version of Lego's firmware. You can check for the latest firmware updates here.

After you download the latest firmware, the zip file contains a readme that describes how to load the firmware back into the NXT. Here's a copy of what it says:
Quote:
To install LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Firmware Version 1.05 please unzip the file to the following folder:

...\Program Files\LEGO Software\LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT\engine\Firmware

1) Launch the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software (if it was already running, restart it.)
2) Go to the "Tool" menu and select "Update NXT Firmware...".
3) LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Firmware v1.05 should now be available within the "Available Firmware Files".
4) Select the file and press "Download"

Of course, you can do this without downloading the latest firmware as well. Any versions of the NXT firmware that you have saved in the directory shown above will show up in the list and be available to send down to the NXT. Just follow the four steps at the bottom.
