 Re: Fire Field won't convert.
If I was FireField I would refuse to convert this noise, too. Surely you'd have more success when you first try it with Beethoven's "Ninth Sinfony" or maybe Debussy's "Claire de Lune". If it still won't work: let us know! *rofl*

 Re: Fire Field won't convert.
Have you EVER played F-Zero Maximum Velocity?! Btw, I was wondering if a .mid file would convert to an .rso file, not if this .mid file would convert to an .rso.

 Re: Fire Field won't convert.
The ".rso" files are not much more than a raw monophonic WAV file with 8-bit samples and usually a sample rate of 6K or 8K per second. They also have a different "header" from a wav file.
I think there are some conversion utilities that convert "wav" to "rso" files. Do a google for them. So if you can convert your "mid" file to monophonic "wav" then its theoretically feasible.
But don't forget you don't have a lot of flash memory for this.
It takes 8K bytes of samples for 1 second of playback. So you've got room for maybe 16 seconds of playback.
The NXT firmware also supports a 2:1 compressed format for "rso" files. This uses standard ADPCM algorithms. So the limit is now 32 seconds. And that's with devoting all of the file system to rso files.

Here are the links: To Convert Wav files to RSO (Look for the Wav2Rso section) Alternatively, you can download it directly for PC or for MAC. (Although, as mentioned above, you aren't going to be able to store the full three minutes of the file onto the NXT as an RSO.)

note that .mid files are smaller then .wav files.

 Re: Fire Field won't convert.
It won't download the file in wav format. I guess I won't be able to use the file, then...
