Post ROBOTC for Mindstorms - 1.44 Available!
Available for download - http://www.robotc.net/content/lego_down ... ms_144.exe

Changelog:
Version 1.44
· Production version of HiTechnic Servo Controller is different from pre-production version which was used to develop the ROBOTC firmware driver. The production version is incompatible with ROBOTC firmware 7.57 and earlier. New firmware 7.58 introduced for compatibility.
· Minor changes to the “Joystick Control” debugger window. Also added as a standalone window in the “Robot -> NXT Brick” command sub-menu.
· Added capability to support binary numeric constants, e.g. “0b11101”.
· Clarified document for external battery monitoring. Also adjusted “battery gauge” to values appropriate for a 12V battery rather than 14.4V battery used in prototypes.
· Fixed firmware bug in “X-or” with byte variables.
· File names were not being properly displayed in the “VIEW” menu command for selecting display of user include files. This bug only applies to the Advanced “Super User” menu level.
· Improved documentation for “power down delay minutes”
· Fixed minor bug in allocation of temporary variables in expressions that mixed ‘int’ and ‘long’ calculations.
· Added new pre-processor symbols for ‘__Name__’ and ‘__File__’. These contain the short filenames of the main program and the current file and can be useful in conditional pre-processor macros (#if).
· Sample programs updated to match new #PRAGMA style for FTC.

Because the beta software has a free 365 day trial period, and is intended for FTC teams. I downloaded mine from Robotics Acadamy.

aha, ok, so it's a beta again.
I was afraid of something like this, but I'll never try a beta again.

I wonder when finally a stabile public version will appear...

I have not had any problems with beta software, RobotC included. :bigthumb: The only thing that I don't like is that it won't convert MIDI's in RSO's. I wanted to run F-Zero_MV_-_FireField on my NXT, but the compiler told me it couldn't convert the file. :( I'l post the file in another thread so that it won't be in here.

If you wont test a beta, how do you know if your bugs have been fixed? Isn't that a waste of time?

Don't trust Bug Tracker. 1.44 is very stable.

Helmut,

I daresay they have done at least some testing. However, they are only a small team and in the time you have spent asking them whether they have tested it or not they tested, you could've easily done it yourself :P They do rely on the power users to report some of the more tricky bugs but you cannot ask them to do as much testing as all the time the power users could put into it combined if they spent even only 10-15 mins of their time running some tests with their code. Please man, just install the new version. It runs fine on my computer and my robots. Just run your NAN generating code and see what happens. If it is bugged, then the sooner they know, the sooner they can try and track down the problem.

Regards,
Xander

@Xander,
CC: @Dick Swan, @tfriez, @vnguyen:

I reported several bugs to the bug tracker an enclosed source and data files.
This was my part of the job.

After this, I actually exspect the developers to test my reported bugs respectively by using my submitted data.
If their testing should confirm the malfunction and should lead to a bug fix in a new release, I exspect them to test the code anew, whether the bug meanwhile has been fixed or not.
In case of a new release the test result should be added to the bug tracker as
"resolved by release 7.89 beta/public", and if not, there should be added a note like
"unfortunately not resolved by release 10.34 beta/public".
This is the developers' part of the job.

If the bugs all have been fixed, I gladly will test the new release by my own (improved) programs.
If not: not.

By the way, I found a bug. Look in the FTC forum for more info.

I wonder if most of those reported bugs in the bug tracker will ever get the status "resolved" :(

Fords software contains high number of calculations. I have also experienced that programs that use large number of data to execute lots of calculations on them, tend to crash or fail. In my assumption there can be (some) memory handling bug behind.
