Sound Sensor: more possible than just loudness detection?
hi,
I want to implement a sort of (simple) sound or speech detection by my neural net.
So is there anything more possible with the sound sensor than just loudness detection, maybe kind of real time frequency analysation (hi pass, low pass filter)?
If there is no way to do this with the built-in electronics: are there any third party sound detecting sensors (maybe I²C with a pre-pocessor)which can do this?

Hello Ford...
I don't know of any other sound sensor, but i am working on that...
I am trying to identify "beats" on musics to robotics dance...
With the sound sensor, i already can make it move on sound of music, based on avaliation of past...
I means, i get values and according to informations, i can identify some noise and some beeps sounds...
When i got something better i would post more info

thx, I'm looking forward...!
in an advertisment they say:
Quote:
The sensor measures dB and dBA, and recognizes sound patterns and tones.
what are that sort of sound patterns, how can they be detected and what kind of digital value do they have?

No, we cannot give a "statement" on these problems. We did not make these claims of the sound sensor, LEGO did.. You can only detect loudness. If you have an issue with this, contact LEGO.
