Post External App Access?
I am part of a research project (www.openworm.org) and I am working on connecting a Connectome framework to a NXT robot. I played with RobotC and it looks like a great app to do the things I want to do but I see no means to access programs outside of the programming language? Is there any way to call another program, engage in interprocess communications in some manner like call a web service?

Thanks,

I'm out of my depth here... but you might want to consider one of the Wi-Fi "sensors" that are available for the NXT.

Thanks for the WiFi suggestion and I did consider this but I don't see how it could make any difference trying to access another application via TCP or UDP but I'm interested if someone knows how.

Thanks,

You will need to create some kind of listening process on the PC that can handle requests from the NXT. It is not a trivial project by any means. Something you could consider is using a program that connects to the NXT via BT. That might be a lot simpler.

What are you trying to communicate with?
