The SetSensorType() command is used to manually set the mode of a specific input port to a specific type of sensor. There are a few instances (sensor calibration, for example) where this command is used to activate/deactive a sensor in the middle of a program, but generally we recommend using the Motors and Sensors Setup to configure the robot's sensors (found under the 'Robot' menu in ROBOTC).
The SensorType command works very similarly, and again is used only in very specific instances; again, unless it's absolutely needed, it's best to configure the robot using the Motors and Sensors setup window instead.
