Post RCX Motor issues
I apologize if this is the wrong forum, but I'm new to this. Hopefully someone can help. My daughter has the 2.0 RCX mindstorm set which we enjoy. I recently purchased a used Robosport expansion set. If I attempt to rotate the axle with my fingers, it does not rotate unlike the motors in her original set. I even tried connecting the motor to the RCX unit with no luck. Is the motor gone or is there something I'm omitting. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

This is not exactly the best place for it. This forum is for problems relating to the RobotC software. For this kind of question, your better off asking at the MindBoards forums than here. Also, why did you not make a new topic in a more appropriate forum here if you didn't know about MindBoards. Either way, your motor is most likely dead. If your feeling adventurous, you might try and open it up to see if there's anything clearly wrong on the inside. Is this the new or the old motor? The new one has a slot on the top and 3 on the bottom, while the old one has none on the top and 2 on the bottom. If it's the old one, then it's easy to open up. If it's the new one, then I wouldn't try it.

I have split the topic off to a new one.

My guess is that the motor is broken. You can get replacements quite cheaply on bricklink or places like that :)

It is most likely dead. Lego used a badly designed pancake motor. The magnet coating splits from the core, and pushes on the armature. There is no fix.
