Post Mindsensor or Hitechnic IR link
Hi,

I'm looking for code sample to use the IRLInk of mindsensor or hitechnic to control the power function.
Lego give to us the IR protocol in order to control speed of the PF motor. Where could i found a code sample to control the speed.

Thanks,

Thibaud.

Mindsesnors has a demo posted on there website on how to do this with their link, you have to rewrite the registry's of the NR-Link, but it is possible

http://www.mindsensors.com/index.php?mo ... ment_id=15

I have not seen any code yet for the Hitechnic IR link

I believe you only have to rewrite the registry once and the NR-Link keeps the changes. The NR-Link comes preprogrammed for RCX communication, you will just be changing these registers to the power function commands instead of the RCX ones.

I don't think rewriting the registry's will hurt the chip on board.

I have the mindsensors NRlink and have re-programmed it to communicate successfully with the PF IR receiver. The procedure to follow is:

1. Connect your NXT brick to the PC via USB
2. Start the LEGO supplied NXT-G development program
3. Download the standard LEGO firmware into the NXT
4. NXT will re-boot
5. Load the mindsensors supplied "duck" brick into the NXT-G environment.
6. Follow this procedure as outlined by Dr. Patel from mindsensors:

1 - Connect the NRLink to NXT and NXT to your computer using USB
2 - Open any new program and drag the NRLink 'Duck" block.
3 - Select correct port, Address(0x02) and action as "power Function Macro"
4 - You will see bottom line read NRlink V2.00
5 - Click the macro update checkbox, on the right side of box write button and status will appear
6 - Click on the write button and it will download the desired macros in NRLink, once done button and status will disappear .

7. Once you have done the above steps you can start RobotC again and download the RobotC firmware into the NXT brick.
8. Happy programming!

You only have to download the updated macros into the NRlink once. once it is updated you are good to go.

So far I don't know if the NRLink will allow speed-control as LEGO has only just published the spec for the IR protocol.

Regards,
Mark
