Your VEX IQ brain will have to be updated before you can use ROBOTC. Head over to the VEX IQ download’s page at VEX’s website and Download and Install the “VEX IQ Firmware Update” program. This program will also install the drivers for VEX IQ so your computer will be able to communicate with it.
|Once the Firmware Update program is installed, connected all of your VEX IQ Motors and Sensors to your VEX IQ Brain.
||Once everything’s connected, turn on your VEX IQ Brain and connect it to your computer using the Micro-USB cable found in your kit.
||Once inside of the VEX IQ Firmware Update program, hit the “Update All Components” button to upgrade and unlock the programming power of your VEX IQ!
Once ROBOTC is download, install ROBOTC to your computer. This will install a Preview Version of ROBOTC for VEX Robotics 4.0 to your computer. This new build is compatible with existing ROBOTC installations, so no need to uninstall anything!
Once ROBOTC is installed, double click the ROBOTC 4.0 Icon and launch the application.
Once ROBOTC opens, the last thing you’ll need to do is install the VEX IQ firmware. Make sure your VEX IQ is still powered up and connected to your computer – then click on the “Robot” menu and select “Download Firmware -> Standard File”. This will only take 5-10 seconds to install the firmware to your VEX IQ brain.
The drivers for the CORTEX Microcontroller and VEXnet Joysticks are included in the ROBOTC 4.0 installers. If, for any reason, you need to download them separately, here are the downloads:
Download Network Driver (in addition to required driver) if ROBOTC will run from a network:
ROBOTC 4.0 manages your ROBOTC and Robot Virtual Worlds licenses. It is designed to simplify the process of keeping all of your software up-to-date while minimizing the number of downloads and installations you must perform!
Once you have downloaded and installed any version of ROBOTC 4.x, you have everything you need (NXT and Cortex drivers excluded). No Additional downloads of ROBOTC software are required; in fact, don't try to download and install additional versions.
Note: The VEX Programming driver is built into the ROBOTC installer
05/06/2011 If you are using SMART Board software, it may prevent ROBOTC from being able to communicate with the Cortex. Click here for instructions on how to resolve this issue.
