ROBOTC Certification Courses Being Offered at this Spring’s ITEEA Conference!

Robomatter and the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy are proud to offer Robotics Certification courses at the ITEEA National Harbor conference in Washington, DC on March 2nd and 3rd, 2016!

When you sign up for the training, you’ll get:

  • A Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy Certification course
  • Membership to ITEEA
  • Access to this year’s the ITEEA Conference at the National Harbor in Washington, D.C.

The courses that we are offering are Certification Courses. They will consist of two trainings sessions at the conference and four online classes after the conference. The online classes are offered once per week, are recorded, provide you with 24/7 access, and include forums that are enable you to get you questions answered on your schedule. There are two courses being offered, ROBOTC for LEGO training and ROBOTC for VEX training.

Each course will consist of:

  • Two (2) three-hour, on-site sessions at the ITEEA National Harbor conference
  • Four (4) additional online evening training sessions following the conference (or you could attend a summer online course)

Robotics Academy Certified ROBOTC Online Training for VEX CORTEX

This course focuses on learning how to program CORTEX robots, and how to use robotics as an organizer to teach STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics) concepts. Included with the course is online access to the Robotics Academy’s ROBOTC Video Trainer for CORTEX for one month starting the first day of class.

Robotics Academy Certified ROBOTC Online Training for VEX IQ

VEXIQROBOTC

This course focuses on learning how to program IQ robots, and how to use robotics as an organizer to teach STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics) concepts. Included with the course is a free copy of the VEX IQ curriculum (upon completion).

VEX CORTEX Trainer: Gyro Sensor Chapter Now Available!

VEX Cortex Trainer The latest chapter within our latest VEX CORTEX Video Trainer Curriculum is now available … Gyro Sensor! Located in the Sensing section, this chapter will allow you to to turn the robot by measurements of degrees.

Some of the lessons you’ll learn within this chapter includes:

  • How the Gyro Sensor works

  • How to account for the momentum of the robot when turning.

  • How to use the Gyro Sensor to reduce Accumulated Error.

  • How to use the Gyro Sensor to increase turning accuracy.

VEX CORTEX Trainer: Integrated Encoders Chapter Now Available!

VEX Cortex Trainer We are excited to share our latest chapter available within out VEX CORTEX Video Trainer CurriculumIntegrated Encoders! Located in the Movement section, this chapter will allow you to increase movement accuracy and automatic movement corrections.

Some of the lessons you’ll learn within this chapter includes:

  • Introduction to the Integrated Motor Encoder as an alternative to Rotary Encoder.
  • How to use encoders to monitor movement.
  • How to use encoders to make more accurate robot movements (Straight line/ turn/ etc…)
  • How to enable PID speed control to enforce a consistent movement speed.
  • How to more accurately move the robot a certain distance.

National Robotics Week – VEX IQ Challenge!

To celebrate National Robotics Week, we’ve opened up our FREE VEX IQ Virtual Challenge for everyone to participate!!

The VEX IQ Virtual Challenge is part of an ongoing research project by Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Academy and the University of Pittsburgh’s Learning Research and Development Center designed to assist robotics teams learning to program.

Participating students will learn programming that enables them to solve this year’s VEX IQ Virtual Highrise Challenge. As they learn they will also earn an Introduction to Robotics and Programming Certification.

Robomatter is pleased to be working closely with the Robotics Academy to create high quality STEM learning experiences, and has agreed to provide access to all related materials FOR FREE to celebrate National Robotics Week!

The game available for the challenge is VEX IQ Highrise Beltway! In Beltway, you will program your VEX IQ robot to autonomously score as many cubes as possible during the 2 minute period. The standard Highrise game has been augmented with a conveyor belt around the perimeter and several other game play elements. Click here for a more extensive list of the new rules and game play. Beltway is available in the latest update to the VEX IQ Highrise Robot Virtual World download.
